Barbara A. & Brian D. Benson
Barbara Benson graduated from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education with majors in French and English. She went on to teach French and English at Longfellow Middle School before becoming a stay-at-home mom for six years with her two oldest children. She then joined her husband Brian in the growth of their apartment rental business working full-time for the next twenty years.
She has served as the president of the La Crosse Apartment Owners Association and the La Crosse Family YMCA Board of Directors. She currently serves on the UW-L Foundation Board, and both she and her husband are actively involved in the continued growth and development of UW-La Crosse. Barbara and her husband donate both time and money to the UW-La Crosse Foundation, the La Crosse Family and Children’s Center, The Salvation Army, the La Crosse Family YMCA, and the Humane Society. They provide scholarships for students at Western Technical College and UW-La Crosse and are actively involved in improving the housing rental standard in the La Crosse area.
In her free time Barbara enjoys spending time with her grandchildren and her elderly mother, cooking and reading.
Brian Benson is the President of Benson Management. He served in the Air Force for 4 years as an Airborne Radio Operator, during which he flew 115 combat missions and earned an Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. He began buying properties in 1972 while attending UW-L, graduating from UW-L with a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education in 1973. During the first few years of operation, Brian did all of the maintenance, painting and cleaning himself, eventually finding his niche in the real estate market and significantly expanding the company holdings.
Brian has served as President of the La Crosse Apartment Owner’s Association, President of Shelby Youth Baseball, President of the Central High School Booster Club, and continues to be active in the local community and other area organizations. In his spare time, Brian enjoys golfing, exercising at the YMCA and traveling with his wife, Barbara.
In his free time Brian enjoys playing golf, working out at the YMCA and traveling with his wife.
Vice President & Marketing Director
Kelly Benson serves as the Marketing Director while managing daily operations. Kelly has worked for her family’s company since she began painting garages and cleaning apartments in high school and has worked full-time with the company since June, 2002.
Kelly holds a B.S in Psychology with a Counseling Emphasis and a Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy. She worked in the counseling field for several years before she returned to La Crosse to be more actively involved in the continued growth and success of her family’s real estate legacy. She is passionate about providing exemplary customer service, and making the process of finding and living in quality, affordable housing a pleasurable experience.
Kelly is married and has 2 children. In her spare time, Kelly enjoys distance running, practicing yoga and cooking.
Brian E. Benson
Vice President & Maintenance Supervisor
Brian is an expert in real estate management and serves as Benson Management’s Mobile Home Parks and Maintenance Manager. He is a Wisconsin licensed Real Estate Salesperson and member of the National Association of Realtors, Wisconsin Realtors Association and LARA. He is also a Wisconsin Housing Alliance Certified Land-Lease Manager.
Prior to working at Benson Management, Brian studied finance, economics, Spanish and accounting with a management concentration at the University of Massachusetts – Boston, and worked in Boston, Massachusetts at Gibson Domain Domain as a real estate sales agent, and a budget analyst at the Massachusetts Department of Revenue.
Brian also serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the non-profit organization, Horse Sense for Special Riders.
Debbie is our newest team member and Benson Management’s Business Manager. Debbie’s role as our Business Manager is to deliver the highest level of customer service to our valued tenants and ensure that our business aligns with tenant needs. She believes that communication is the key to our success, not only to our tenant community but also our surrounding community members.
Debbie began her education journey at the University of South Dakota with her general studies and then attended Western Wisconsin Technical College for both Accounting and Supervisory Management. She has also attended classes through University of WI-Madison for Production and Warehouse Management. Debbie enjoys education and continues to take classes in the areas of business and leadership with a goal of earning a Master’s degree in Business Management.
Debbie was formerly Store Director of both Bath and Body Works and PetSmart for almost 10 years. During her employment at PetSmart, the store earned the honor of “BEST” Pet Store of La Crosse County by the readers of Explore La Crosse Magazine. Debbie brings over 24 years of experience in leadership, finance and business management to Benson Management.
Debbie enjoys spending time with her 2 grown children and her husband of 22 years. She also finds joy spending quality time with her huge family and friends. You will often find her at local sporting events, encouraging young adults that she is mentoring. Debbie also volunteers for local charity and benefit events within our community.

Sheila provides invaluable and friendly front office service as a key member of Benson Management’s initial contact coordination team. She has over 18 years of customer service experience with a large telecommunications company and is a graduate of Western Technical College. Sheila’s goal is to provide our tenants the best overall experience possible.
Sheila is a huge supporter of her children’s sporting events and school activities. Sheila and her husband serve on the La Crescent Lancer Baseball Booster board and spends much of her free time watching her children play baseball, football and gymnastics. She also enjoys socializing with friends, boating and traveling.
Megan is our newest team member at Benson Management as our Business Assistant. Her goal is to provide administrative support and assistance for our tenants and for the office team. Megan will be working mainly with our 5 manufactured housing communities but will also provide quality administrative support for Benson Management’s other entities.
In her free time, Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, volunteering at many organizations in the community, reading and traveling.
Manufactured Housing Community Supervisor
Daniel has been representing Benson Management since 2011 and provides expertise in selling and purchasing manufactured homes. He provides a high level of professionalism along with friendliness and humor for all tenants in our 5 manufactured housing communities.
Steven Buhr and Mike Bird
Steven and Mike began their Benson Management careers in 2007 and have combined maintenance and carpentry expertise of over 60 years. They provide maintenance service in a professional and courteous manner for all tenants.
